Worship Ministry

MISSION STATEMENT

Our mission as the worship ministry at El Cajon Church of the Nazarene is to lead others into all-out, uncompromised worship of God. Our primary purpose is to give God the glory, honor and praise that He deserves.
We are a people learning to lead others into worship of God by living a life of faith, i.e. in calling, competence and character as we worship the Lord in humility, intimacy and passion.
We are a people learning… We are a community of people who work toward improving our effectiveness at leading worship and as disciples of the Lord Jesus. We desire to reflect the likeness of Jesus by multiplying, growing and maturing through the disciplines of personal worship, prayer, study, fellowship and transparency.
… to lead others… We are leaders and shepherds of the people here at El Cajon Church of the Nazarene with regard to worship. We desire worship experiences that bring others into the very presence of the Lord, thereby allowing a profound opportunity for the Holy Spirit to touch souls, heal hearts, break the chains of bondage and ignite a passion for Jesus and the work of His Kingdom. ‘Others’ includes not only our body of believers at El Cajon Church of the Nazarane, but we are also looking outward with a heart to gather those ‘unconvinced’ around us (neighbors, friends, work associates, etc.) to point them to the life-giving knowledge and relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ that we enjoy. ‘Others’ also embraces the value that we at El Cajon Church of the Nazarene are just a part of God’s greater Church and we strive to have God get all the glory, not us.
… living a life of faith, i.e. calling… We recognize the importance and divine nature of calling in each of our lives. All believers are called to be worshipers of the Lord and we are called to serve in the Body of Christ. We embrace His hope and direction, and seek the Lord about our own personal calling. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened so that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. Ephesians 1:18-19
… competence… We serve the body with our gifts and talents and we strive to improve ourselves as musicians and technicians in order to bless the Lord with our very best; not for our glory, but for His. “And the men did the work faithfully with foremen over them to supervise… all who were skillful with musical instruments” 2Chronicles 34:12. “And their number who were trained in singing to the Lord…all who were skillful.” 1 Chronicles 25:7 “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” Col. 3:17.
… and character… Integration (integrity) of character with the principles and values of the Christian life are critical to serving as ministers of worship. Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness. Delight yourself in the Lord; and He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him and He will do it. And He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your judgment as the noonday. Psalm 37:3-6 (see also 1 Pet. 1:15-16).
… as we worship the Lord in humility… This is a very public ministry that is under submission to the Lord and to the authority He has placed over us. We are a community united by our service to the Lord and we are intent on living out Philippians 2:2-7 Make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose. Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind let each of you regard one another as more important than himself; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, taking the form of a bond-servant and being made in the likeness of men.

Women's Ministries

MISSION STATEMENT

This is an opportunity to touch the lives of women by the power of Jesus Christ through outreach, Ministry Groups, and discipleship. Through this exciting ministry, Christian women are touching the world in varied and creative ways. They are reaching beyond personal interests and comfort zones to embrace women of all ages, races, professions, and social standings. They are building an environment for women to mentor women—a place where women can learn, practice biblical love, and feel God’s love in a very real way.

The mission of Women's Ministries is to touch the lives of women and girls through the transforming power of Jesus Christ, discipling them to follow His example, and training them to minister to others.
